A Step towards consolidation: Zomato acquires UberEATS
Zomato acquired Uber Eats, the Indian food delivery division of Uber .This is the big win for zomato as the San Francisco-based ride-hailing giant decided to sell the entity off to Zomato as the India food business did not contribute significantly to its global business. This move was one of Uber’s steps towards cutting its losses, but it marked the first big step towards a consolidation for the Indian foodtech market. For despite the fact that the two big players, Zomato and Swiggy, dominate the space, The very first thing that comes in the mind is how Zomato will gain from this deal ? The startup gets Uber’s delivery partners and Uber Eat’s business detailsThat includes customer information, delivery partners, and order history. The Uber app will redirect users to Zomato for the next six months whenever they choose the option of “get food delivered”, which translates into a part of the market share .Zomato has partnered with 1.5 million restaurants across 24 countries and serves more than 70 million users every month. The Gurugram-based unicorn has over a lakh delivery partners. Numbers haven’t been disclosed, but it is believed that the addition of Uber’s fleet will take this figure to close to two lakh delivery partners.
The acquisition signals a positive shift in the market. In the past year, iff we see the two heavyweights, Zomato and Swiggy, the average order volume was close to 40-50 million orders a month. At an average of close to 500,000 orders a day,This step by Zomato will give a good market share to the company lets see how the acquisition of UberEats gonna make Zomato more

DEBATE
Will supreme court’s AGR ruling lead to telecom sector’s collapse?
Yes , as the Supreme Court On October 24, 2019 upheld the government’s way of calculating telecom revenue, on which licence fee and spectrum usage charges are computed. will not just lead to the collapse of the telecom sector but will also have a cascading effect such as sectors like steel, railway as per FICCI.Acording to internal estimate of the Department of Telecom, telecom companies which are operational at present will have to cough up around Rs 1.33 lakh crore by January 2020 as per the apex court order. This is beyond the total debt on the telecom sector estimated to be around Rs 7.87 lakh crore as on August 2017. The industry body called for change in policy
saying that timely intervention and support will not only save the sector from the brink of collapse but ensure a healthy growth adding to the economic momentum of the country. Both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have expressed uncertainty on continuing their operations following the apex court judgement and in the absence of relief from the government. Vodafone Idea posted an unprecedented loss of 50,922 crore– highest ever by any corporate in Indian Inc and Bharti Airtel posted it highest loss of Rs 23,045 crore in the second quarter of current fiscal. However this seems to be an issue which can be the reason for the telecim sector’s collapse & I think until & unless these telco companies wont come up with good solution they wont be able to cope up with this issue.

Amazon to invest $ 1 Billion to digitize MSMEs in India
Digitization is becoming need of an hour. It helps in reshaping commodity trading at an accelerating pace. It demands that companies develop an entirely new business model which results in strong commitment & spans governance, organizational structure, information technology & other considerations.
Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos announced a new 1 billion dollar investment on digitizing micro small & medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India during an interview in New Delhi. His arrival in India was met by protestors who say Amazon is driving small retailors out of business by undercutting them on price. This will have a greater impact on MSME entrepreneurs & owners. More than 60% of MSMEs respondents are digital users but only 5% have completely adopted digital technology.
With the help of government and other retail sectors (like Amazon) MSMEs will be empowered. Only people need to understand and accept digitalization which will increase employment opportunities, increase revenue, reduce costs , risks and overall economic growth. E with the help of digitalization business owners of small enterprises can keep better track their online & interact better with their customers located in different parts of the world.

Achievements By SIMERITES
“Hard Work always pays off”. This is what we felt when we were at Nirma University Ahmedabad for our paper presentation. Everything was just irresistible, that feeling of presenting our paper in an International Conference in front of such a qualified professor was winsome. This was our very first experience to present any paper in such a big international conference. There we interacted with some people from different colleges, we got to know about the way how they use to manage their time and how they are preparing themselves for future, it was a great feeling interacting with them. We also visited some places in our free time and got to know about the Gujarati culture, about their local cuisines and festivals. It was a very great experience of going there and presenting the paper. (Arti Chaudhary & M. Vanshika- PGDM-1)
THE SPEAKING SIMER
Overcome Your Fear of Public Speaking
Most of us — even those at the top — struggle with public-speaking anxiety.
And it follows that when they get up to speak, nearly all of them initially avoid making eye contact with members of the audience. Therein lies the problem: While avoiding direct eye contact may seem like an effective strategy for coping with speaking anxiety, it actually makes you even more nervous.
What do these walls look like? We focus on our slides. We look down. We retreat into our notes. In the process, we disregard the people in front of us, wishing them into invisibility. Even the most confident speakers find ways to distance themselves from their audience. It’s just how we’re programmed.
Fortunately, there is a solution: human generosity. When we approach speaking with a spirit of generosity, we counteract the sensation of being under attack and start to feel less nervous.
Admittedly, this is hard to do but it’s absolutely possible to become a generous speaker. Start with these three steps:
- When you’re preparing, think about your audience.
- Right before you speak, refocus your brain.
- While you’re speaking, make eye contact.

Success Story
Founded with the three key people Phanindra Sama, Charan Padmaraju and Sudhakar Pasupunuri. The three engineers from BITS Pilani are the founders of the Redbus. After their graduation, they worked for MNCs in Bangalore. Phanindra Sama worked for STs electronics and Texas instruments, Charan Padmaraju for Honeywell and Sudhakar Pasupunuri for IBM. Phanindra Sama was the master brain in evolving Redbus. He was the chief executive officer for Redbus for 8 years.
The seed of Redbus success story sown on the entrepreneurial ground when Phanindra Sama trying to travel from Bangalore to Hyderabad for Diwali vacation in 2005. He could not get a bus ticket to travel to his home town. He wandered around the Bangalore for a ticket. But he didn’t get. That day he came to know the disorganization in the system and communication gap between bus operators and travel agents. There is no translucent on available seats and price of the ticket. And everything was done there is through phone calls and for return tickets, need to go to the agents every time.Sama felt it like clumsy. He believed that it could be solved through online. Then he discussed with his friends and three of them together decided to enter the realm of the entrepreneurial ground even though they didn’t have entrepreneurial bug initially
The Journey-The journey begins when the three engineers left their comfortable and affluent zone. In January 2006, the three started working on the solution. They built software and tried to sell it. But that doesn’t pay off. Then they came to know about TiE Entrepreneurship Acceleration Program, Bangalore. They met the TiE team and discuss their plan. The TiE assigned three mentors for them. They gave the idea of starting their own business and gave them assignments about the project. It is like a survey. They are fastidious in the assigned work. The three young entrepreneurs surveyed all the details like the number of buses, number of routes, the costs of a ticket, the way the people buy a ticket, profiles of customers, shares of bus operator and an agent.
They started it in August 2006 with only one operator, 5 seats with 5 lakh rupees. The Redbus startup story brought a revolution in the bus industry. They built a website with a name redbus.in. They went through the hardships and seasons of suffering throughout the whole journey before tasting success.
The Redbus success story didn’t end here. Redbus today is roaring with success as an online bus ticket booking company with 10,000+ buses, 700+ bus operators, operating in 15 states and sells at least 5,000 tickets daily. It is a fast-growing startup. Redbus prolonged their services to hotels, bus hire, and pilgrimages.
